After a long day at work I made my way to my daughter's high school parent meeting. Little did the team know that their coach and I had been working on a couple of great service projects (One to be announced in a day or so). So after hearing about the upcoming season, we proceeded to tell them about Soccer Unites and the plans we had for our service project. As we began to talk about the project, the reason behind it, and the Soccer Unites/Andy T-shirts we are selling, you could feel the energy in the room rising! What an amazing feeling it was to see, and feel this team sincerely excited to be a part of our fund raising efforts! Of course I expected them to be excited to play before a RSL game, (Friday, August 29 Juan Diego vs Hillcrest), but I really did not expect the emotion and motivation that was so apparent after all was explained. It was an amazing feeling that I wish Andy and Marcia could have experienced. Everyone wanted to sell and purchase T-shirts, and the best thing, after the meeting I had several of the girls come up and ask me what they could do to help and volunteer with Soccer Unites. This expereince was so refreshing, just when I think our kids now a days sometimes don't get the reality of life, they totally surprise you. I want the girls to know that, 1. They made my day, and 2. The character that was shown by these amazing girls tonight made me very proud! I look SO forward to seeing your success.
So, to any of you that want to help our Juan Diego girls by purchasing tickets to the RSL game they will be playing before the RSL game on Friday, August 29, please email soccerunites@aol.com and we will arrange to get tickets to you. Corner tickets are $17.00 and premium seats are $25.00. The money that is raised by Juan Diego ticket sales to the RSL game that evening will go towards our fund raising efforts for Soccer Unites/Williams' Family. You will also see the Juan Diego Girl's soccer team walking around Carnival Real after their game selling our Soccer Unites/Andy T-shirts. If you get a chance, come purchase one.
Look for another VERY excting event that we have planned soon. Just waiting for a couple of confirmations and I will be back at ya with details!
